My blog “Open Mind Culture” used to feature less technological topics, but somehow I want to switch back to more Indie Web publishing to be more independent of “social” networks like (“Tech”) Twitter, Meetup, and maybe even DEV (which is currently the only social platform for technical content that doesn’t either suck or is nearly abandoned like mastodon seems to be.

Unlike in many other professions, it’s appreciated in the IT industry when web developers think for themselves (at least if they aren’t permanent employees). I’ll be writing more on this topic shortly, and in general, my Open Mind blog will cover more technological topics in the future, particularly from the perspective of how technology, “green” startups, and how sustainable digitalization can contribute to achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Web colors, fragile software development, and underestimated sustainability; Green IT and sustainable web development using open-source software would be other relevant keywords. Here I am at a climate protection event wearing a spontaneously designed Developers for Future T-shirt and a face mask made of colorful fabric, before the COVID pandemic led to lockdown measures, but also to more remote work, online collaboration, and, in some cases, unintended climate protection measures, while small, owner-operated shops and zero-waste stores suffered a severe setback.
